We know ACPS is bad but WHY

Our school district is so trashy. This is embarrassing.

So now we have a coach who lost his cool abs engaged with spectators (big no no) but we also have parents who think it’s their right and acceptable to verbally taunt and heckle their own coach. All parties involved are shameful.

I fault my fellow parents. They are embarrassing. They should have all been thrown out of the game and forbidden to come back until they 1) apologized to everyone for their bad behavior and poor language, and 2) performed some sort of community service.

Ahhhh, the soft bigotry of low expectations. White parents should know better than to heckle, but black coach is absolved of responsibility for attacking people.

PP here. I’m not sure what issues you’re trying to project here but from the video all parties involved were black. But I don’t think race has anything to do with expectations on parents; EVERYONE must be held to a standard. why are you pulling different standards for white vs black parents?

Start your own thread on that I guess.

+1. The gulf between the trashy and the classy grows wider every year.

I have lived all over the world and Alexandria is one of the most racist cities I've ever lived in. The racism is institutionalized in all aspects of our city government and it is inculcated from birth in the offspring of the city's white so-called liberal families.

I'm sorry you think Alexandria is racist. It's actually the most classist city as the rich people of all races in Alexandria just want the public housing (and west end) to go away.

I live on the east side of the city and I just want people to stop harassing me on the sidewalk, leaving trash all over the place, and shooting each other. Oh and the rich people can stop treating every grassy area like an off-leash dog park.

DP: for Old Town - my number one pet peeve would be drivers not mindful of pedestrians.

Just read ACHS School Resource Officers have been placed on admin leave by the Alexandria Police Dept due to a complaint against them. Anyone know more details about the incident or allegations? Must be pretty serious.

Was just coming here to see if this was being discussed. Would love to know any details!

My kid says that he heard it is a completely bogus and trumped up complaint to get the SROs out of the high school. There is a small contingent who find it inconvenient for the SROs to be in school so this may well be an offshoot of that. He speculated that it may also include the people who claim they are so emotionally fragile that having a police officer in their presence is upsetting boo hoo.

The timing of this is really bad with it being the last day before break and the stupid Tik tok thing. We are worried about safety tomorrow.

Okay, now you're just making things up.

I'm sure that your son "heard" all this.

It has to be a pretty serious allegation (not just emotionally fragile kids, as you put it) if the SROs are under formal investigation. Concerning.

WaPo article says allegations were made by a former (not current) student who claims that during her time at the high school one of the SROs engaged in inappropriate conversations with her about her sex life. The article noted there are 2 SROs at the school who have both been assigned there for 4 years so it is implied those same officers had to have been working at the school when the alleged conversations took place and they’re only 2 SROs so it had to be one of them.

Personally I find this to be rather strange that a former student suddenly appears now to make this claim.

You don’t know that it’s “sudden.” Maybe the former student recently left or transferred to another school, opened up to someone about the situation, didn’t come forward earlier because of fear, etc. It’s also possible more victims will now speak up. Let’s let the investigation run its course.

That sure is a lot of speculation, after condemning speculation. You can’t have it both ways, and the hypocrisy is what drives many people crazy and causes resentment among citizens. I agree a thorough investigation is warranted and I look forward to learning the results. I hope if they allegation turns out to be true the SRO is fired and I would be incredibly sad the girl/woman didn’t, for whatever reason, reach out for help when the allegation occurred and has suffered in silence until now. That being said, if the allegations turn out not to be true it will only add fuel to the fire and anger a lot of people that politics are still in schools.
