Why are Montgomery County residents so über covid conscious?

That's also why very liberal areas tend to have higher tax rates, higher minimum wage, more social welfare, do more things for the poor.

It's a collective mindset vs individual mindset.

BS. Liberals are generally very selfish people who only care about themselves and their kids. The rest is self-righteous performance.

Oh man. Your poor brain. That’s not how reality works at all.

Okay, so all you collective good liberals, what did you do during the entire year of schools being closed to ease the burden on lower socioeconomic families, who had to leave the house to work and had no one to stay with their kids while they were in virtual school? Beside planting a “we believe in science in those house” sign on your front yard?

I'm a liberal who pushed hard for schools to open. That's how you ease the burden.

What did you do exactly? Post a few things on Facebook?

+1. If they were really thinking about the collective there wouldn't be so many batsh-t reckless drivers in this area. I still see people driving by themselves in their car WITH THEIR MASK ON speeding and running through stop signs in a residential neighborhood.

No one moves to the wealthier parts of MoCo excited about paying higher taxes, clapping their hands in anticipation of helping the poors. They do it knowing it’s the price they have to pay to live there. To be closer to their jobs to DC, or to be closer to the culture, or for their kids to be in a W school. To keep the kids from the riff raff of the poorer schools.

Let’s not kid ourselves.

Because we have some sense and don't want to die.

You have a better chance of dying from hundreds of other things besides catching COVID after walking around outside unmasked.

I emailed the BOE and superintendent regularly, sending them evidence-based information (peer-reviewed, published studies) about why prolonged closures probably weren’t a good idea.

What did you do?

You need to chill. Those are Uber or Lift drivers. Other people who drive in masks could be parents who carpool unvaccinated kids.

That's pretty much it. Masking lets the type of self-important, self-righteous liberals who infest the DMV show off how much they care.

I think you mean outside? I was at a Chevy Chase playground this afternoon with 4 year old DD and we were almost the only ones not masked. I was rather surprised since at our local playground in a different Bethesda neighborhood, almost no one wears masks outside. And just a mile away everyone was wearing KN95s, which seemed like overkill. And several of the conversations I overheard between other parents (moms) were all about covid and transmission and boosters. They seemed super-anxious. It was like being transported to a year ago.

I flat-out don't believe you.

Um, okay. It happened. Enjoy your disbelief.

Oh, and if you want proof, head to Leland Park around 3 pm on a weekday and see for yourself.

PP, it’s quite likely that most people are not nearly as motivated as you are to look for “proof” of the mask- wearing habits of complete strangers.
You’re concerned that these strangers are “super-anxious “. The level of your concern seems less than healthy — at best. Perhaps focusing on your own issues might allay your concerns which seem super-obsessive.

What a stupid response. YOU asked PP for “proof.” She provided an account of something she observed in her daily life. You then tell her she’s obsessive because she answered your proof question. You're a whack-a-doodle.

Multiple people responding. Guess you know quite a lot about being stupid.

yea, those liberals and their desire to support social welfare and social justice. So selfish of them. Must be just self righteous performance, even though it does hit their pocketbooks.

Anonymous wrote:I just really don’t want covid in any way shape or form and if I can do a very small, not very bothersome or invasive thing to help make sure that doesn’t happen then I’m happy to do it. I don’t wear them outdoors but I do not go inside of restaurants to eat.

This is something people need to wrap their minds around: Covid is not going away. We are all going to get it in our lifetimes, probably multiple times. If you're vaccinated and don't otherwise have serious health issues, you are incredibly likely to have a mild case when you do get it.

Even fanatical places like Australia have accepted that trying to stamp out covid completely is not going to happen.

Take your time, if you need to, but you're eventually going to have to accept reality.

According to polls, liberals believe you have a 65% chance of being hospitalized if you catch the virus.

So much for the claim that liberals are better-educated or smarter.

Liberals support trendy catchphrases, that's true.

Actual meaningful effort? No.
