DD only doing summer job for boy?

DD 16 has a summer job. DH and I were so proud of her for taking the initiative. But she recently confessed that she only got this particular job because a boy she finds attractive, who she has neither spoken to (she doesn't even know his name) works there too. What if anything would you make of this? If anything I'm a little disappointed she's not doing it for a more admirable reason.

Whatever.

It's on par with taking a job in California because the weather is good.

Sounds normal for age 16. Did you not know the premise of the tv show Felicity?

Sounds so normal. I would be thankful that the thing she did for a boy was get a job...

Truly, who cares? What's this "admirable" reason you were looking for - pursuit of cash, regardless of coworkers? This feels like OP is looking for a reason to judge her DD and I'm sure that plays out a dozen different ways every day.

BTDT. At least she’s working!

So? Shut up. Everyone deserves a story. Everyone’s story has chapters like, “The Summer I Worked At Dairy Queen for a Boy.”

This, which is a shame since OP probably doesn't even realize it, or OP is virtue signaling.

At least she won't risk being fired for calling him at work she can just flirt in person like people used to do. The old fashioned way.

Get her on the pill asap. Did you see that break room video at megamart?

Totally normal!

My daughter is applying for a job at Taco Bell because she thinks that getting a discount on Taco Bell is the best possible perk for a job. She could have had a number of other jobs, but this is the one she pursued for her own (dumb) reason.

You maybe should consider that "making money" is not a "more admirable" reason than "because she loves their quesadilla" and "because she likes a boy." That's your adult values judging a teenager's job. Let her be a teenager for like 5 minutes before you expect her to have adult values.

Oh, come on OP. Weren't you 16 once?

As long as she’s being responsible and doing her job well, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I mean, my kid mainly does her sport because her friends do it. But oh well.

I don't know, I'd be a little worried. What happens if the boy quits?
