The rumor is they are hiring a current West Springfield HS Assistant Principal for the Oakton Principal job, we will see soon.

Oakton is a SUPER needy community (Kids and Parents) so it is a tricky job when hiring a Principal, when they hired Lane they went through the process 2 or 3 separate times but continued to readvertise the job before they made a decision, but in my opinion Jamie Lane was a solid Principal for Oakton!

What does RIO mean? I’ve seen it on the skyview boundary discussions too and have no idea.

No, it's not just them. It's basically all of the rich white and asian parents.

NEEDY= that community has crazy helicopter parents that have $ and influence so they treat educators like their hired help. The Oakton students can be very pompous/indignant and they are so shielded by Mom and Dad that they have trouble being in the real world upon graduation.

RIO= Rooted In Oakton, this is is a group that was organized to keep Crossfield Elementary at Oakton HS

I'm not trying to do the standard "I hate FCPS" thing that a very vocal minority of people do, but what does an Executive Principal for a Region do on a weekly basis?

Role of Executive Principal
The executive principals support the region by providing guidance and coaching to school principals and working closely with assistant principals to facilitate professional development throughout the school year.

Based on those words is that really a needed role, and each Region needs one??

Each region has two Executive Principals.

I’d vote for more teachers and fewer Executive Principals but it seems to be a way for FCPS to reward principals with a cushy desk job in Gatehouse for a few years before they collect a pension. It’s got to be much easier than being an actual principal patrolling the halls and dealing with parents and kids.
