Why are dog owners so irresponsible?

Anonymous
I know it’s not ALL of them. But enough to piss me off.

We had yard work done and the landscapers left the bags at the front of the house for collection where our trash is normally collected. Dog owners started using the yard waste bags for their dog shit and DC 311 would not pick them up, labeling them as contaminated.

Disgusting.

That's so rude! I have a dog and would never do that. It pissed me off when someone threw their poo bag into our regular trash right after trash pick-up, so that the bag stuck to the bottom of our can.

Yeah, that happened to us all the time as well. I finally put some stickers on the cans which somewhat deters people. I also confronted one of our neighbors that was doing it and he said there were public no trash cans to/from his walk, which is not at all true.

you shouldn't be leaving yard waste in the trash anyway. you're also part of the problem.

It’s so rude. As a dog owner, it also makes me really angry when it happens to us.

Our neighborhood installed poop cans, which have lids and dispensers for poop bags. I think that helps a lot, having them dotted around.

Huh? Yard waste was not in the trash. The yard waste was in appropriate yard waste bags and placed where they would normally be collected, and 311 was requested for yard waste.

Found one of them.

Why do owners let the dogs walk fully into our yard to pee on newly planted bushes, which kills them?

Your landscaping people should have taken their trash with them. They didn't and so you should have put all the bags in one large bag and put in large trash receptacle.

You're wrong. That's not how yard waste collection works in DC.

Because we don't hold them to a standard. And it's way, wayyyyy too easy for anyone to get a dog.

The same happened to us, could not believe it. (In North Arlington). We have dogs and would NEVER leave the dogs poop in someone else's trash MUCH LESS their lawn clipping bag!

That makes me very angry. What an a—hole someone is to do that. I’m sorry you had to deal with it.
