| What do you suggest women do in their 30s to prepare for perimenopause? I have bad PMS, had bad HG when pregnant, and now I'm terrified of these hormone shifts I'll get in 10 or so years. Should I cut back on alcohol, fix my diet, anything that will help? |
| Weight training. Hair vitamins. |
| Sunscreen. |
| Sure, just basic health stuff. |
Waste of money. |
| Cutting back on alcohol is always a good idea. I would say weight training and calcium in each meal, plus Vitamin D with Calcium supplements. |
| Have as much sex as possible now while your vag is naturally moist. Because it's all down hill once the big P hits. |

You can't "prepare" for peri, OP. You never know what symptoms you're going to get, and even if you've suffered from difficult periods or difficult pregnancies, it doesn't naturally follow that peri will be a struggle for you.
All you can do is live a healthy lifestyle, specifically in terms of lowering your cholesterol/triglycerides, keeping your blood pressure relatively low, checking that your A1C doesn't put you in prediabetic territory, generally managing your weight, etc. Not for peri specifically, but to lower your lifetime cardiovascular and diabetes risk. Alcohol and smoking increase your risks of cancer and heart disease. There are theories out there that seed cycling (look it up) can regulate your hormonal cycle and help mitigate the fluctuations of perimenopause, but there is no solid research to confirm this. But mostly, you need to get your anxiety in check. No one should be terrified of perimenopause. In the larger scheme of things, it's not going to kill you. Cancer and heart disease will. |
| Geez. Get therapy so you don’t go looking for things to be worried about!!! |
| Enjoy being 31 and not being in peri for the next 15 years or so? My daughter will be 29 this year and I dont think your age group is generally pregaming. |
this. Hair is dead. |
| Be prepared to possibly have the symptoms start early. I started getting hot flashes at 34. By 35 I was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve, and I never was tested again, but I also never had another period after my last (IVF) baby at 38. Go on the pill when you start to get symptoms if they are bad. |

Lots of sleep, cut out alcohol if it bothers you, cut down on sugar.
I find going to an herb doctor helpful to help with night sweats, hot flashes, and hormonal regulation in addition to staying on estrogen. |
| Anxiety medication if this is stressing you out so much at such a young age. |
| I started having symptoms at 35 and having a regular exercise routine and sleep and eating properly tamed the symptoms, but it’s work taking care of yourself and your health. |
