I’m 39 and make 117680 base. I do receive bonus of 32k but I’d love to increase my base pay to 150k!
It feels so far away and I feel so dumb as I wasted my twenties and thirties working in non profits for low pay. How can I increase my income? I’m scared of facing age discrimination moving forward. |
| You look for jobs that pay more. And you grow up a little. This post makes you sound shockingly immature for a 39 year old. |
What is immature about it? |
| At that age I Was making 87k and that was only 4 years ago. And now I make a little bit more than you. |
| Perhaps a change in perspective is in order. I'm in my 24th year of my career and I still haven't broken six figures. And, as a teacher, I don't get bonuses. |
| That’s almost exactly my husband’s salary +bonus. I make $52K in education. We have one child and a nice life. Good work/life balance, college savings. We are happy. |
what does your husband make? |
| My earned income has been below $25k since 1996. Get your passive income up. Don't expect your job to do it for you. |
Examples? What kind of passive income can be cultivated by anderson who lives paycheck to paycheck? |
|
There will always be someone making more
There will always be someone making an obscene amount more that you will say WTF? |
| Damn. I'm in my 40's and make $92k. |
| This post is insulting. Get lost OP |
I'm in my 29th year of my career and will never break six figures. |
I made close to your salary at your age. I now make a little more than half that because I was out of work for almost two years. Grow up. |
| Being a higher earner isn’t about one day you wake up and realize you are underpaid. It’s about putting in consistent effort every year to learn a marketable skill and understand what’s marketable, what kind of mind set you need to get promoted or landing a higher paid job. |
