| Please advise NYC mom Knicks fans ! We used to live in NYC pre- kids. Coming into town this Fri to see friends - staying in midtown. Where do you go to watch Knicks games with your teens? Looking for a place that has a place to sit and eat food, fun, friendly Knicks fans, game audio and big screens. We saw Brooklyn Bowl online. - but wondering if any locals have tips. When we lived in NYC they showed the US Open on screens in Mad Sq Park with bleachers - is there anything similar besides right outside MSG? Thx and let’s go NYK!! |
| I think there is a watch party outside MSG but it likely does not having seating or food. It is probably a fun experience though exhausting. There are some bars near MSG (like Stout?) that could work. I'm not sure. For one of the games in the last round I think they had an indoor event at Radio City or somewhere like that? |
| Can a 16 year old with a parent watch a game at a bar? Do they check ID? |
I'm not sure of the exact laws but if there is a seating area with tables I assume that would be OK? |
| If you make a table reservation at a pub/restaurant (definitely like Stout, or Connelly's) you should be able to bring kids. I think technically the law in NY is they can't sit at the bar, but then it comes down to the bar policy. Some don't let kids after a certain time, but if you go somewhere near Times Square that serves food they're probably more kid-friendly. My one recommendation is to stay away from 34th St. It is set up for blocks with pens and police barricades, which made walking to and from work yesterday annoying, let alone navigating at night with teens not from NYC. |
| Anyone know about watch parties at Central Park? |
| following along - we're going to be in NYC for game 5 (if its necessary) and would love to get in on the fun! |
I doubt it. Though the free Central Park Philharmonic concert is next Wednesday, which is the same night as game 4. It would be very cool if they somehow put on the game. But more likely, people going to the game (or more of them staying home to watch the game) is going to kill attendance at the concert - I think the concert is at 8 and the game is at 8:30. |
| As luck would have it I just got an e-mail - there are watch parties this Friday in MSG and at Summer Stage in Central Park. I'm not sure what the food situation is at either but I'm sure you can find out. |
| Anyone see the face value of the tickets they released today. Crazy. |
|
I heard prices have actually been dropping a bit. Still really expensive but lower.
I think there is a watch party at Wollman rink for game 3. Which is somewhat ironic because fixing it up is the one decent thing Trump has done in his life and there can't be any watch parties near MSG because he is tone deaf enough to go to the game when 99% of the fans don't want him there, even including the few who might actually support him. |
Yes, there are multiple ones. I think there is a big TV/screen by the carousel. |
If anything prices went up after the Knicks won Game 2 because it's more probable now they'll sweep and close it out on Wednesday. Everyone in NYC is upset about Trump causing all sorts of cancellations and possibly delays getting into the arena. |
Game 5, if it happens, will be in San Antonio on June 13. Fingers crossed no Game 5 though (huge Knicks fan here). |
Tickets went up dramatically after they won Friday night. Then today they have dropped a little bit. I have a friend who is considering selling Monday night tix so is following very closely. Trump needs to not go. But he loves drama and confrontation so the more he is told not to be there, the more he wants to be there. Especially because he knows 95% of the people there hate him so making them miserable is his greatest joy in life. He is a miserable human being. And he has no one in his administration who says no to him. His first term a few cabinet members had some guts. Now it is all pathetic yes men. |
