| No bike riding, pool, sports, trips to beach, but obviously can walk. Can’t really do cooking or art projects right now either. We have stay at home parents and grandparents around. Thinking of Nats games, movies, and video games. Please send ideas. Any cool day trips or places you’ve visited in the DMV. My kid is usually on the go! Thank you. |

Really?
|
Yes. |
| His brain works. He can make a list of things he wants to do with this down time and start crossing them off the list. Empower him to use his own brain! |
| What part of him is in a cast? |
| How old? |
| Try Natgeo museum, it's a new one in town and some fifa games watch party |
| His arm is in a cast. Elbow injury. I didn’t mean to offend people with my question, more so crowdsource what to do when his summer plans were going to be weight training, baseball workouts, swimming, camping, hiking, biking and beach trips. He is smart and has a brain thankfully! He will read a bit and possibly play chess but I figured that some might have other ideas. Thank you! |
| He’s 15. Thanks. |
At 15 he should be able to come up with things to do. Encourage that! |
| Stationary bike and lots of leg days. Might also be a good time get into some yoga since he will be forced to start with a gentle class that can adapt to his injury. Ask his doc what kind of PT he might need and how to support that while he is still in the cast. No reason he can’t do some less strenuous hiking. Get all his summer assignments done. Take a programming or robotics or language course. |

Watch history documentaries then go to the Smithsonian to see related exhibits.
Is it too early for the classroom portion of Driver's Ed? |
| I had a swimmer son in this situation one summer, and it was hard. If there is any way to do so, see if you can keep him involved in his sport in some way. Can he assist a coach of little kids? Can he help his coach in anyway Same with swimming, if he normally competes on a team - can he help with running meets, etc. Also, try to keep the hiking (obviously moderate level) and beach trips going. |
| Me life junior year of HS. Honestly it didn't really change anything. I still went everywhere my friends went, and I went to school and team practices, but could only participate in less physical ways. I never missed a practice. |
| I mean this kindly, but at 15 he probably won’t want your ideas on things to do. Have his friends over as much as possible, if he wants. Let them order whatever take out they want and pick up whatever they want you to buy. Let them play video games if you have a system or watch stupid videos on their phones or on tv and leave them alone. That’s what my teen son would do. He would not want to go on outings with me. |
