| Which school is better - Springbrook high school or Northwood high school? |
| Not too many articles out there that paint Springbrook's principal in the best light. Northwood's also getting a new building soon, so I'd lean there. |
Northwood’s principal is outstanding. Soringbrook’s principal is not. |
|
Northwood and it’s not even remotely close.
|
| Northwood. Without a doubt. And they're getting a new building to boot? There's no competition. |
| Thank you for your responses. Which is more academically sound in terms of science and engineering? |
Neither are STEM magnets so the usual standard courses. Northwood has MC2 and a successful dual enrollment program beyond the MC2 so that opens many non-MCPS doors. |
I agree Northwood has a lot going for it. One thing worth mentioning though is that MC2 does affect the availability of electives at the school itself, since many MC2 students are taking classes through Montgomery College rather than on campus. |
| If you want STEM go to Wheaton HS. |
| Thank you all for your insights. Seems like Northwood is the clear winner! |
Springbrook has a terrible principal. |
| I expect Northwood's STEM strengths will increase in the new facility. The labs are going to be really nice and it will attract staff. |
| What puzzles me is the US News raking for Springbrook is higher (#12) than Northwood (#20). But Greatschools ranking for Northwood (7/10) is higher than Springbrook (4/10). It seems to me that even with program like PLTW, Springbrook is underperforming. |
Northwood has historically had a disproportionate amount of English language learners who bring general test scores down for the school. I am not being negative against the language learners but just stating a fact the system is rigged against them and Northwood. |
| Springbrook has an IB program and an Engineering one… I know not everyone is a fan of the principal, but Springbrook has some excellent and caring teachers! |
