Cooking differently after GLP

Anonymous
Is anyone else cooking differently after starting GLPs? I’m on a low dose now and not trying to lose.

I cook with lots of butter now, switched my family to whole milk, drink half and half instead of fake creamer. I don’t limit cheese or ice cream. I feel like I’m eating more real food and I don’t care about the calories anymore (was anyone actually getting fat off whole milk vs 2%?!). Nothing I do makes me gain a pound.

I was exactly where you are at about 6 months at maintenance dose. And then I started gaining.

Why are you in a GLP1 if you’re not trying to lose?

I’m maintaining. Also for prediabetes

I am also on a GLP (still trying to lose) but have always done full fat vs non-fat and it has never impacted my weight loss negatively. I still have to watch portions/total calories (since they add up more with full fat foods) but never understood the craze for everything being non-fat.

Hope you continue on this path for maintenance!

We’ve always used butter, whole milk and real cream in our household. GLP-1 has helped cut down on food noise.

I'm confused about what you're saying and asking.

Are you asking if people have changed from eating processed and "diet" foods to eating moderate amounts of healthy foods (including sweets)?

Because it sounds like you're asking people "did you change to a more fatty diet after starting GLP-1s?" which is kind of an odd question to ask.

I started eating healthier overall. I did not substitute butter for oil, I just cook with less fats overall (you don't need a lot of butter of oil when cooking). I don't drink milk, but no, I did not switch my kids to full fat milk.

I never ate "diet" or "low-fat" foods so that's not a switch I had to make.

I think "not caring about the calories anymore" is a sure fire way to gain all the weight back, OP.

You have to stay on them for life, even after having lost the weight you want to lose. Obesity is a chronic condition and the weight returns if you are not on the drug (which is no different from weight returning when you go off weight watchers, or whatever).

Not necessarily, if you are on a GLP1. On these meds, you are not driven to eat too much by messed-up signals in your body. And when that happens, and you eat less, you stop needing to obsess over calories.

I’m cooking differently but the exact opposite of you and completely avoiding dairy. It will be a year this July and Zepbound is still giving me a massive aversion to dairy and butter .

I now eat a lot of almond, soy or oat milk in my coffee. I cook with a limited amount of olive oil. It has completely changed my cooking this way.

I’ve almost always used real butter, whole milk, and heavy cream. It helps me stay full longer and is less processed (at least in my mind). I’m not on a glp1, but this approach seems to help a lot with the food noise.

Because if they stop, the weight comes back and then some.
