What cake should I get for my birthday???

Anonymous
Turning 50 this year. I can’t decide on a cake.
Things I don’t like:
Anything Buttercream
Although I love chocolate I don’t really like chocolate cakes
orange
pineapple
raspberry

Things I like:
Cheesecake
cannoli
pistachio
almond
Tres Leches

I have tried multiple cannoli cakes in the area and have been very disappointed with them. So I am hesitant to get a cannoli cake. But I will still take suggestions and see if it’s one I haven’t tried!

In Moco but willing to travel to a different part of the area for a great cake. thoughts?

If you are willing to make/have a loved one make rather than purchasing, the Martha Stewart Cannoli Cake is excellent. I've made it multiple times.

Also, an Italian Cream Cake sounds like it might fit your palate.

I have similar preferences. Generally, I avoid it by substituting something else for birthday cake (cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory or Edward’s Chocolate Creme Pie)

A friend recommended Whole Food’s Berry Chantilly Cake, which looks like it would appeal to you, but I haven’t tried it yet.

In terms of cake, if you don’t mind making your own cake, these are really good:

Piña Colada Cake -
Make white box cake according to directions. When done, poke holes all over it and then cover with one can cream of coconut and one can crushed pineapple. Chill. Cover with a tub of Cool Whip.

Gooey Butter Cake -
Combine 1 box Pound cake mix, 2 eggs, and 1 stick melted butter. Spread in 9 x 13 pan for crust.

Mix together 8-oz. pkg. softened cream cheese, 2 eggs, 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla, 1 lb. box powdered sugar (reserving 1/2 cup). Spread over cake mix crust.

Sprinkle reserved 1/2 cup powdered sugar over cheese mixture.

Bake 325-350 for 40 - 45 min.

Filomena has an amazing cheesecake. Whole Foods berry chantilly cake that someone mentioned above is also great. You can pick up a slice to try it out.

I am not really a fan of Tres Leche, but if you are, there are two bakeries that have amazing options - One is in the Layhill Shopping Center and the other in Plaza del Mercado. The one in Layhill is hard to see - it's parallel to Bel Pre Road and kind of behind the gas station on Bel Pre. I forget both of the bakery names but they are worth a visit.

The tiramisu cake from Bisnonna in Fairfax is amazing. But you've got to plan ahead: https://bisnonnabakeshop.com/?srsltid=AfmBOophuzqHzFSHu6IdKonI6-iflT13vqnhSCqgMAzQFweQeR2Ojo49
