Who pays better -- Unique, Uptown Cheapskate or one of the onlines, like Depop or Poshmark?
I have a lot of DD's clothing to get rid of -- everything from Aerie/Athleta/Lilly Pulitzer/AE/Nike/Lulu to better dresses - Ann Taylor/Zara/Nordstrom to some designer tops and pants passed down to her that either she didn't wear or wore once or twice. The stuff literally looks brand new. |
| I like Poshmark as shipping is easy. |

DCUM gonna DCUM! Thanks to the one pp (I think) who actually answered the question! Seeking more! lol

These brands are not the quality that Poshmark etc will take. Plato's closet likely wont take these brands. Just try FB Marketplace

I have consigned in the past.
Unique is a thrift store, you donate, not consign. The easiest method is a store where they do the work for you. I used Boden, Naartje and Hanna facebook resale for those specific brands. You need to have a scale and do the shipping if you go that route. |

Unique isn’t consignment. You donate to them, they sell it and keep the money. You can’t even take it off your taxes because it’s not a charity.
Those aren’t the brands that most consignment stores are looking for. You could try blossom and buds in Arlington, but you won’t get a lot of money. |

It’s all the same, donate or sell, mostly it gets trashed and you won’t get more than a few bucks for those clothes anyway.
The idea of “poor people” gratefully wearing your old stuff is one of dcum’s weirdest fetishes. |

My information may be old, but:
As I recall Uptown Cheapskate may not take the Ann Taylor or Lily Pulitzer, they cater to teens and young adults and don't take office wear-type items. Unique only takes donations. The Mustard Seed and Reddz trading will consign items. The Mustard Seed I think limits the number they will look at (like maybe 20 or so from any one seller). You can sell stuff on eBay, but check completed listings to see if it's worth it. (Go search up your item, see how many are available and what people are asking, then filter by "completed items" so you can see what price the same item actually sold for) The thing to remember is that none of this is easy money ... It's going to be work. |

"Passed down to her"
If you got them for free, don't sell them. Tacky. |
| Why do people need to sell their old clothes? Why not just donate them? |
| If you want more hands-on, shipping individually to buyers and posting each item, do Poshmark. If you want to just put everything in a box and ship it (for less profit), do ThredUp. |
| Lemon Lane in Falls Church is geared to younger kids but may take the nicer brands. Check their website for list of brands. Its very easy money if they do take your items. When my kids were younger i probably made $100/month. Tween stuff moves slower so i dont go in as often now. |
| Look up an actual consignment sale if you have the time to get it all entered at printed for the Fall. Its a lot of work but usually decent yield. You'll make 60% of the sale price. |
| I’d say Poshmark for this type of stuff. Price it well and discount shipping. It’s a lot of work but that’s your best bet. Thread up takes very little and you get very little but it’s easy |
| You could also sell it “as a lot” on FB Marketplace. My friend goes this in another part of the country and has good success |
