How's your Mother's Day going?

Anonymous
I am absurdly happy: I'm wearing a new dress I love, my climbing roses on my porch are in fragrant bloom, and the ones in the front yard are starting to open too, and they smell divine. Fragrant hybrid roses are by far my favorite flower (not the weird ones that don't smell).
My oldest came home from college, exhausted and full of allergies. My youngest is engrossed in AP exam prep for tomorrow and the following days. My husband is sick - we spent last night at urgent care, and got a diagnosis and meds.
None of them have actually wished me a Happy Mother's Day... but I don't know why... somehow it doesn't matter at all.

I hope you're happy today!

Great! Kids are still asleep (teens) and DH is frying bacon while we drink coffee. Normal weekend. Life is good.

Was waiting for this thread! Good to hear that it's going well for you OP.

Kind of same. Kid has 8 APs and wished my a HMD but I don't see anything happening but takeout together. DH got flowers, breakfast, all the stuff. I'm not gonna dwell on formalities. I have a good life, and they are good people.

I have little kids so the kid sports and activities grind doesn’t stop for any holiday. I took kid 1 to morning swimming this morning at 9:30 and kid 2 is at his soccer game with dad (should be finishing up shortly). DH followed my instructions and got a roast going in the crock pot this morning before leaving for soccer. We had takeout sushi last night which was great. I have zero desire to go anywhere for lunch/brunch today!

We don't really celebrate it for me beyond cards and flowers. I lost my mom in 2025, but when she was here I usually would spend the day with her. DH and the kid who is not at college went to see my MIL, and I'm enjoying the quietude at home.

Enjoying a quiet morning cuddling with my furbaby, and later we’ll take a nice walk together and enjoy all the spring blossoms at our local nature preserve.

I went birdwatching and saw a woodpecker. That was good.

Can't wait for it to be over. My mom's dead and I found out last year that I can't have children.

DH out of town for 10 days for work right at the end of school year AP and finals craziness, one kid still at college and two still asleep, but my Velcro dogs are the cutest and I’m looking forward to taking them for a walk. Also I bought myself some cute earrings this week that I’ve wanted for awhile and called them my Mother’s Day gift

I’m going to go with the assumption that you have positive intent with this post, but how incredibly tone deaf to start out with “I am absurdly happy”. While that is great OP, you must realize that this day is difficult for many people for a variety of reason. Share your happiness sure but maybe in a different manner.

Perhaps people who find Mother's Day difficult shouldn't click on a threat about Mother's Day.

Wow. I personally appreciate OP's positivity. There is so much negativity and grim news in the world today that someone being happy to enjoy their garden and dress makes me happy. And in fact, I am enjoying my roses and this awesome weather today as well! Though I am wearing grubby gardening clothes and not a pretty dress.

It’s okay. My teenage daughter is in a mood and barely said Happy Mother’s Day. Her father is mad at her because she didn’t get up to set up my gifts and then she got mad because he did it. Everyone’s mad. I’m sitting on the couch with the dog. He seems happy.

Good so far. Young kids so some Mother’s Day crafts and cards they made at school, breakfast in bed, flowers. I lounged in bed and listened to an audiobook.

The rest of the day is pretty normal, kids sports and DH has errands. Planning on working out and then relaxing today, maybe takeout for dinner.
