Migraine with aura

Anonymous
I get a migraine with aura about once a year. It puts me out for a day. The problem is that once I get it, my anxiety about getting another one is so high. I will literally have panic attacks if I feel like my vision is wonky or my eyes are tired.
Not sure what advice I am looking for, it just sucks.

Talk to your doctor. I’ve had those migraines for decades. You need to have your anxiety treated.

They don't cause you anxiety? How?! They are so scary to me.
What should I ask my doctor about.

Don't let people make anxiety the issue. Aura's are scary. Get a abortive from your doctor. Just remember they will go away.

What one is the best one? I have Nurtec but it's not like it lets me function after I take it.
I also tend to spiral when I am somewhere where I need to be "on" because "what if I get one then" type of situation

It kind of puts me into a depression - I am scared to make plans or exercise or live life. It sucks

For me, the aura means I’m about to get a bad headache and I immediately take Tylenol for it. Now I’ve learned the aura passes in 30/40 minutes and then headache.

I used to take imitrex.

NP but for me, I don't get anxiety about it because there isn't really anything I can do about it (beyond the things I do to try to prevent them). Being anxious whether or not I am going to get another one makes no difference. If I get it, I get it and have to deal with it.

This is definitely something I'd talk to your doctor about. I get a few a year and it has zero impact on my life (other than when I'm currently having one). Worst one brought me to the ED, hopefully I never have that again.

The aura means a horrible headache is coming and I will fuzzy in the head and super nauseous, likely vomiting.

I get anxiety too OP especially about whether I could be alone with my young kids when it happens. Not sure I’ve found a good solution :/

What does that look/feel like and how do you move beyond it?

I hate them - I have been able to identify my triggers. For me a big trigger was waking up early so I never get up before 7 am and I haven’t had one in years! I give that example because triggers can be so random

My trigger might be allergy related or possible related to full ears but I can’t quite tell.
