Do your kids brush their teeth on the weekends?

Anonymous
Random question and I’m not sure why I’m entertaining what my kid told me but he claims his neighborhood friends said that they do not.

FWIW they are up and out early in the day and are a house with four kids close in age so it seems pretty busy.

Wut. This is a daily, usually twice-a-day activity.

I mean, I try like hell to make sure they do.

???

Of course. Don't you brush yours on the weekend? It's not like microbes in the mouth are on a M-F schedule.

Yes of course.

Though when we have lazy mornings sometimes we get to lunchtime and I'm like "wait, did you brush your teeth this morning?" and if the answer is no then they have to brush after lunch. It's gross to me that they don't notice that they forgot to do it when they got up, but I think if kids have good oral hygiene generally, they are much less prone to bad, stale morning bread the way adults are. So if we're not getting out of the house in the morning they are prone to forget to brush after breakfast.

Maybe that's what the kids are talking about? Missing morning brushing due to lack of routine?

Huh? How old are these kids?

I suppose if they don't grow bacteria in their mouth during the weekends then they don't have to.

This happens to us sometimes too-but she certainly does at night, and does as soon as we're like hey wait a minute..!

I have three, boys and girls, and, yes, absolutely, daily. Otherwise people could be set up to have a full set of dentures by midlife.

Of course.

That would be like not taking my medication on weekends.

They really need to brush every single night before bed. I'll admit I get pretty lax about making them brush in the morning, though. It may or may not happen and I don't give it much thought.

Of course. My kid's "but everyone does it!" Was that his friends, who were 10-11, didn't have bed times and could stay up as late as they wanted. All of his friends.

Absolutely yes. That would be nasty if they did not.
