What are mid 40s women wearing this summer? WFH, so comfortable but not sloppy. I hate linen so that's out.
Links greatly appreciated. |
| I plan on wearing my usual cotton summer dresses or very lightweight cotton pants. One problem is mosquitoes. I have a severe skin reaction to their bites, and they plague my entire summer and fall. Sometimes I'm more covered in the summer than in the spring! |
NP, and I would love your suggestions for lightweight cotton pants. I've decided I just feel most "me" in pants and a sweater tee of some sort (sleeve length variable based on the weather) and would like to move away from shorts. Unlike OP I don't hate linen, but I also love cotton. |
| Check out the brand Pact. They have a ton of cotton gauze clothes that are very light but as hard to maintain as linen. I live in them in the summer. They also have a lot of sundresses, which aren't my jam but could work well. |

This set looks so good on and is very soft. I saw it on an influencer and was skeptical but looked at the pics in the reviews and took the chance. Its super flattering.

Midi dress or skirt with a cotton tank, something like this:
https://www.freepeople.com/shop/lowen-midi-skirt/ https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E482982-000/00 Lightweight layer, usually a lightweight shirt worn open. I have several in linen, but you can also do a cotton like this: https://www.sezane.com/us-en/product/max-shirt/casual-white#size-0 If a shirt isn't right, I also have a bunch of cotton cardigans like this: https://factory.jcrew.com/m/womens/categories/clothing/sweaters/cardigans/classic-cotton-cardigan-sweater/MF162 https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/nordstrom-rack-crewneck-cardigan/8299926 For shoes I either do a simple sneaker (go to are Reebok Club Cs), a flat sandal (Birkenstock Mayari), or a plain slide in brown or black. I wear the same standard jewelry most days -- wedding/engagement rings, gold studs or huggie hoops, a modern bronze bangle I've had forever. I also almost always wear a heat for sun protection, either classic straw fedora or a baseball cap. |
Pact's organic stretch cotton dresses are super easy in the summer -- wash and wear, never wrinkle, most colors don't show sweat. This one is really nice: https://wearpact.com/women/apparel/all%20dresses%20&%20skirts/fit%20&%20flare%20easy%20v-neck%20dress/wa1-wqx-hun |
I love Pact and I like the one you linked here. I'm not a huge fan of most of the prints they are using this year, though. |

| Linen maxi dress. Linen button up over or a thin wool wrap top. |
| Quince keeps popping up on my socials. I’m tempted to try —is it decent quality? The dresses seem perfect for summer. |
Their products are made all over the world, so it is very hit or miss. I have bought some things from Quince that I LOVE and have multiples of, but I have also had to return plenty of items. They have a great return policy, though, so it's worth trying. |
| Skort and t-shirt for me. |
No. I've tried Quince a few times now and have been disappointed every time. It's basically Shein but for "old money aesthetic." The cashmere is especially cheap stuff. |
| I have like 4 gauze maxi skirts from old navy, I pair that with all cotton scoop tank tops basically all summer. It’s breezy, looks put together super comfortable |
