Children's National Hospital wants to move

Where in the District could it relocate? Would DC give up a neighborhood park/school to keep it?

Should move out to Largo Town Center to be more accessible.

They probably want to move to NOVA or Howard County where they don't have to serve so many poor people.

Link? Why do they want to move? What is wrong with their current location?

Selfishly I would prefer they stay where they are because we live on the east side and it's reassuring to me to know they are not too hard to get to. When we have had to go to the emergency room for an adult, it sucks from where we live, and that would be so much worse with a kid in a medical emergency.

But just for access to specialists, I'm more neutral. The current location is convenient, but I've gone much further for specialists appointments so that's not as big of a deal. The main issue is the ER and being in a central location accessible from many parts of town.

Their primary care clinics throughout the city, which see mostly kids on Medicaid, are excellent. What makes you think that they want to avoid serving poor people?

Their current location is next door to Washington Hospital Center. So same distance to an ER for children and adults.

They should focus on hiring more staff and expanding services.
Every time I have been referred there for anything I am met with a “we have a 6+ month waitlist and/or aren’t taking new patients.

Their location is really difficult to get to. Finding the entrance to the parking garage is like playing Where's Waldo? If they can find a bigger, better location, great!

For people who don't use it as a general hospital, its painful to get to, especially since so many of Children's patients have to see specialists several times a month or year AT least. Its so stressful just getting there.

Agree and the times I’ve been there there’s a wait to get into the parking garage. The staff that work there all seem unhappy. I don’t know what th issues are but I know doctors that love their work but can’t stand the administration so leave.
We started going to the satellite offices in the suburbs and the staff is much nicer there.

That doesn't mean anything. If they can make $1 million+ by moving out, then moot point.
