Seeking inputs on NVU soccer. They are new team on MLS AD. If you are familiar with coaches (u14, and u13). TIA!

Where do they practice?

Do you know who the coaches are? I haven't been able to get anyone to answer that question for me.

Read the team of 31 thread. I would avoid the whole club sounds like a money grab

Tryouts are at GMU, I think practice would be there as well.

Not sure , the NVU site doesn't have any posted over there.

I would like to know more too, from people whose kids have actually played there as opposed to opinions from the DCUM peanut gallery. People here trash every club so it’s hard to know what to believe.

How did NVU get MLS Next AD? I know it’s not super prestigious, but not all clubs who applied have gotten it, so presumably there is some set of standards they had to meet? Their Instagram shows a good number of college commits, does that say anything about coaching or was that just a group that moved to NVU that would have done week no matter where they played?

I haven't heard of a club applying for MLS Division 2 that didn't get it.
Who was turned down?

The club was founded by some people who were unhappy that BRYC wasn't coddling or showcasing their star players.

They don't have a rec program so they have to scrabble for fields and rent commercial fields like at GMU every season. It sounds like they normally practice at GMU or around Annandale.

Their website says U13 and up and yet at our tournament game for u11 the schedule said GFR yet their team uniforms said NVU. So confused by all of these clubs and mergers and partnerships and who is really whom.

NVU couldn't get NCSL to agree to let their teams in to play, so they had to pay GFR to let them play as "GFR NVU" to get access to the league.

It’s U13 and up for MLS Next AD, starting next year. Anything younger will be branded as “pre MLS Next”. No idea if they will continue to play under the GFR umbrella for their younger teams. I think they announced that they will be in some other league for the younger teams next year?

I heard from a parent that another local club has applied for it but haven’t been able to get it. This is a club that struggles with the girls’ side so presumably wanting to do something that doesn’t require them to have a girls team in every age group? But I don’t know if MLS Next and GA/Aspire are tied together such that if your club has both a boys and girls side, you have to apply for both?

NVU is only boys

Right, so the requirement to apply for GA/Aspire for girls is not relevant. But I wonder if it’s required for clubs that have both a boys and girls side?
