| DD got a major scholarship which means she will graduate with money left over in the 527. Also accepted into the honors program so it’s almost too good to turn down. Any experiences with Binghamton? |
| Watch out for townies. |
| That is awesome news! Has been considered the top SUNY school for the last 25 years or so. Very strong reputation especially in the New York area. I think Upstate NY is a great place to go to college. |
| I know a DMV kid who goes there and is having a great experience! |
| Great school and definitely an offer worth considering! I also know a student there from the DMV and they’re having a great experience. Congrats! |

Top state school without being too big like most other flagships. Strong academics. Somewhat remote but not horrible. Good but not great corporate pipeline. Suffers from a fair amount of "my HS beat yours in states" that happens at most state schools.
With the offer you got I would say go for it unless you have lots of resources and want to hold out for a top tier private. |
| Great school- my only warning is to check the scholarship for GPA requirements. A friend's DD went there, and the GPA requirement was 3.75, which was very, very stressful freshman year, and the stress caused her not to enjoy her experience as much. |

My son is seriously considering it as well. Small amount of merit means the price is close to in-state VA schools. I have been really impressed with the administration thus far. Really strong communication. My son has emailed a number of professors to ask questions and they have all emailed him back with great responses. It's a challenging school to get into if you live in NY which is somehow appealing to him too?
Location is definitely bleak in the winter, but fall/late spring and summer there are just about perfect. |
| Congratulations. Great school and very competitive for NY residents. I know many who are very happy currently and successful graduates. |
| Excellent reputation. It's not aesthetically pleasing, but super strong academically. |
I'm biased as a Binghamton grad (class of 94 ) but I loved it and wish either of my kids would've applied there. I have several friends who stayed in NY whose kids went/are going to Binghamton, and they are all very happy.

| It has a great reputation and our son seriously considered attending but man, was that a bleak visit. It’s really not an attractive school. |
| The kids we know there are very happy! |
| The town is lame, the campus is ugly, the education is very good. |

DD got offered about 15K a year scholarship. I’m trying to convince her to visit.
She’s also considering Stony Brook. Does anyone have any thoughts on how they compare? |
