why cmu?

we though they are going to gtech for sure , now this changes the equation.
gtech is much higher rated why is cmu better? electrical or chemical probably

My DC enjoyed touring both schools, but liked the smaller feel of CMU

You'll pay significantly more for CMU, even if not a Georgia resident. For CS, maybe it'd be worth it. For engineering, GT is higher ranked, for whatever that is worth, and better weather.

Why? OOS GT is $54k. CMU, $91k.

Know idea who you are or your kid. So, don't know why you are asking for an opinion on this board. But, I like Georgia Tech a lot. CMU is a good school as well. Let your kid decide and tour both. Good luck.
