Anyone asked for and gotten an extension on the deposit deadline?
Alternatively, are offers reneged if one hasn’t placed a deposit? Thanks! |
| What good is more time? |
|
You can ask, but will need a compelling reason.
You do risk losing your spot if you do not place a deposit and have not communicated with admissions about needing an extension. |
| If you just need more time or are waiting for another school probably not. If its due to something like a job transfer or deployment etc. they might give you a little grace but don't expect a lot. |
Is two weeks not enough? |
This. And also make sure you get it in writing (email) and not just verbally over the phone, if they do agree to extend. |
| The offer will automatically expire when the deposit deadline passes. |
Offers aren't reneged if you don't accept and place a deposit timely. They simply expire. |
| I asked and got a no and reminder that after deadline, offers would go to waitlist. |
| I asked O'Connell and got an extra week. DS was going to hear from another school a few days before O'Connell deadline and I wanted some time for our family to think and talk. Was a little surprised they only gave a week but sounds like it's not a common thing to do so I guess we were lucky. |
| Along the same lines, if I’m not granted an extension and pay the deposit and sign the enrollment contract but back out 2 weeks after the deadline, will the worst that happens is that I will lose the deposit ? |
yes. You have until May 1 to back out. You will lose the deposit, but nothing further. After that, you'll be on the hook for the full tuition. |
| At some schools, if you appeal the FA decision, your deposit deadline may be extended. |
