I remember all the posts about “soft on crime liberal MoCo” and how liberal policy increases crime and yet here are the facts.

I’m sure that illegal immigrants in MoCo have not been immune to what is happening everywhere else. Many self deporting, many staying inside, and no new arrivals.

With the increases over the past several years it is not hard to have a reduction. Crime is this are has been rising for along time and is still high compared to just 10 years ago.

It's similar to the celebration they were having for less overdose deaths without mentioning the use of narcan.

Well considering undocumented people commit crimes at a lower rate than legal immigrants or natural born citizens, them self-deporting or not arriving would actually cause the crime rate to go up.

"The pattern of results presented thus far suggests that undocumented immigration is generally associated with less violent crime."

But don't let the facts get in the way of your racism or anything.

Where's this data coming from? Over what time period is it? If it like for the month of Feb or last 12 months?

What is this arrests or convictions ? Does it take into account pleas and dropping charges?

The murder rate is the only reliable crime indicator. It has very limited underreporting and the data is not skewed significantly by resource limitations of the government or the amount of law enforcement. There were 24 murders in MOCO in 2025, which is 20% higher than in 2024. Crime numbers have not meaningfully improved from the prior year and the murder rate suggests crime is worse than last year.

Normally, I'd agree with this. but the incident number is so low in this county, it's not really reflective of everything else that's going on. Many of these homicides were domestic in nature last year.

This is a nonsensical post. Crime is down by large margins nationwide in 2025, and is much better than it was in 2024 and 2023. If there was a nationwide uptick in crime you would attribute it to Trump so it seems disingenuous to not credit him somewhat with a downward trend as well unless you don’t care about crime and only use the issue for political gains.

Furthermore, as PP said and as people who know crime stats have always said, the ONLY stat that matters is murder stats because these cannot be reclassified, underreported or obscured for political gain by any administration. All other crime stats should be met with a lot of skepticism.

In DC, there have been 10 murders so far this year. By comparison there 27 at this point in 2025. That’s a 63% decrease, which is incredibly impressive. For further context, the safest year in modern history in DC was 2012 when there were 88 murders. If the rest of 2026 has the same trend line as January and February we will beat that by a lot, which everyone should be thrilled about. But sadly there are those on here who would rather see more Black men dead than for Trump to get kudos for anything, which is disturbing to say the least.

Thanks to President Trump.

The same liberal policies are in place as before. Obviously those didn’t cause the increase in crime like many were claiming. This isn’t really rocket science yet many of you cannot seem to comprehend the basic facts.

That study is from 2018.
Things were different then.

If your theory was true why are there only 10 murders in DC this year? We’re on trend to be at 60-70 by year’s end when there were 187 murders in 2024 and 274 in 2024. If the National Guard went away, the Feds stopped assisting MPD and the Mayor instituted a more liberal, soft on crime approach do you think murders would trend up or down? Be honest.

He’s ruined the economy enough that no one goes out to be a crime victim.
