I recently noticed that DCI has a few Ivy League early acceptances. Great job, students! Also, great job, DCI.
I thought this forum would perhaps have details on acceptances at other area high schools. This is one of many measures of how the schools are performing. |
BASIS's list of acceptances is like 100 schools long, but they have started announcing matches on their insta: https://www.instagram.com/bdc2026/ So far, students are going to: University of Chicago Cornell University of South Florida UPenn Syracuse Yale Louisiana State Vanderbilt Barnard University of Chicago Tulane Many more to come! Here is last year: https://www.instagram.com/bdc.2025/ |
Wow! That is great for the kids. Congrats! |
| Latin includes Yale, MIT, Michigan, NYU |
| This is looking like a good year for Jackson-Reed! 4 Ivies already, will be interesting to see what RD looks like. |

This thread in the college section has all of the college acceptance instagram accounts for DC area high schools:

This is very useful. Also, I'm struck by how many area kids go to the University of Chicago! 10 from Sidwell, 2 from BASIS, 3 from GDS. |
If this is surprising to you, it’s time for you to start reading the DCUM college board. Chicago is famous for taking a lot of high-scoring kids who apply in the early round (especially from private high schools). Since it’s currently March, and only the early round has been announced, Chicago is presently overrepresented. Schools like Georgetown that admit high-scoring students in the regular round will be more heavily represented later on. |

This is good news! I’m proud of these kids.
Would also love to hear about kids post college success! |
+1. Would also like to hear about total scholarship awards at the schools. |

Not to be a jerk but just like at the privates, many of these Ivy admits from DCPS and charters are legacies.
I know 4 off the top of my head from the ones listed above. Kids going to Yale, Cornell, Brown, Penn. The kids are very smart, they did extremely well but the tip of the scale is the fact that a parent attended the institution. Just something to keep in mind when crediting a high school for a college outcome. It's not just DMV private school kids who are mostly hooked matriculants to the top universities. |
