"TAG Center Specialty Program Lottery Extended

Prince George’s County Public Schools has extended the TAG Center Specialty Program lottery deadline to March 20, 2026, for School Year 2026–2027.

Parents and guardians interested in possible placement in the full-day Talented and Gifted (TAG) Center Program are encouraged to apply during this extended window. Families may submit a lottery application while the screening process is still underway. Apply here.

Please note: Only students who meet PGCPS TAG identification criteria and are coded in Synergy for TAG services will be eligible for placement."

I reached out to our school's TAG coordinator shortly after the OLSAT was administered in mid-October. I asked when she expected results. She said it would be before the end of the second quarter.

That date came and went, and no one got anything. Then, early last week, one of my kid's classmates got their TAG identification letter and OLSAT results. We got nothing.

I followed up with the coordinator to ask about the status. She said that they were still waiting on some OLSAT results, and that she would scan and send me my child's as soon as she had them. It's been 10 days since that email, and we still have received nothing.

In the meantime, I've become aware of other families receiving their results, both TAG IDed and not; and other families still waiting.

And now the lottery deadline has been pushed back without explanation. AFAIK, there has been no communication of the change through official channels at all -- just quiet alteration of the dates on the website.

I know it's a big district and a huge administrative task with a lot of moving parts. But the lack of transparency here is very frustrating.

Call the TAG office. Explain the situation, complain about the lack of transparency, explain that you are an involved parent that just wants to make the best decision for your child but need the promised information from the County. I did this and they told me over the phone the results. They then contacted the school and made then send home the paperwork. Good luck.
