Same team competing in A and B divisions?

Anonymous
Generally speaking, can a futsal team play simultaneously in both A and B division of the same age group in futsal?
My kid is playing in an mdsl futsal league and we noticed that a team is playing essentially the majority of its A team in the B division. They just advanced to the finals with the most of same players in both divisions. Is this usually legal? I couldn't find any answers online.

This is illegal. You should report them. Both teams should be disqualified and players should be suspended by the league. Cheating cannot be tolerated. They are probably making bank by placing bets on the B team to win the games. It’s disgusting. Go to the press if the club and league won’t take action. This is going to be a huge scandal that will shake the sport.

It happens. Smaller, local leagues like MDSL usually do not have rules to cover situations like this. Sometimes teams sandbag just for the purpose of winning a trophy. This is when clubs sometimes prioritize winning over development. Now the question is, does that same club have a real B team or C team? If so, they should be given the opportunity to compete in the B league.

I am not failure with MDSL rules, but you could pose the question to them. However, I will say it is not unusual that A team/ A league players have to drop down to help out with B team games. But if the whole team is doing it, that would be a league issue.

I know the situation. The A teams kids are more commited and thus further along in their development. B/C team kids go on vacation, play other sports, and prioritize other commitments so not avialable to play. No one is cheating here just making sure they have players for each game. The gym rats hang around and as long as they are not over age, they can play.

The wired things is that they didn't seem to be low on players. They had 12 player for both futsal semifinals.
