Generally speaking, can a futsal team play simultaneously in both A and B division of the same age group in futsal? My kid is playing in an mdsl futsal league and we noticed that a team is playing essentially the majority of its A team in the B division. They just advanced to the finals with the most of same players in both divisions. Is this usually legal? I couldn't find any answers online.
It happens. Smaller, local leagues like MDSL usually do not have rules to cover situations like this. Sometimes teams sandbag just for the purpose of winning a trophy. This is when clubs sometimes prioritize winning over development. Now the question is, does that same club have a real B team or C team? If so, they should be given the opportunity to compete in the B league. I am not failure with MDSL rules, but you could pose the question to them. However, I will say it is not unusual that A team/ A league players have to drop down to help out with B team games. But if the whole team is doing it, that would be a league issue.
