| I WFH and this is basically all I wear. Does anyone have suggestions for tops that are more structured wthout getting into layering territory? Links would be great! And I am tall, especially in my torso, and perfer a scoop or V-neck (big boobs and now at 50, they are big, getting lower boobs). |
|
PS - Also, I am an inverted-triangle shape, so I have to try to minimize my top, and try to wear darker colors (although sometimes all white/cream or other monochrome). I like more textured things, in that they are more forgiving (say that a T shirt... which is what started all this) but I can't do really textured fabrics given my body shape. For this reason (broad shoulders), puffy sleeves and other voluminous tops just don't work. I also don't find button downs comfortable (in addition to the gaping issue). 6 feet; size 14 usually. |
| What’s wrong with button downs? |
I don't find them comfortable. I feel like they don't really move with me, so I always wind up having to pull them down or they bunch around my elbows or whatever. But mostly I don't love the gap that often happens unless they are oversized, and then I have to go get them really tailored, etc. |
I have big boobs too bad buttons are a huge gaping problem |
| I have the same issues and also hate tshirts because they highlight my boobs. I try to find blouses that are in comfortable fabrics |
| Try tops with a slight flair at the waist to balance out your shoulders, tunic tops that hit at hips, popover tops and dolman sleeves supposedly help balance out shoulders. You want to bring the emphasis downward from your shoulders, to emphasize your waist and hips more. Single button jackets, A line skirts. |
Thank you! Peplum tops are always too short, so the flare hits high. I hadn't heard that about dolman tops- they are almost always cut straight across the neck which makes them make me look more boxy, but it's a good point about the bringing of the emphasis down. I find these days my breasts look so matronly is part of the issue generally. |
| Find nice tops. There are plenty especially in Nordstrom rack and similar. Lots of options between t-shirts and button downs. |
| I am in the same boat as OP and it's really hard finding tops. I hate it. |
| Silk or linen blouses. Cashmere sweaters? Some are short sleeved. |
such as? |

NP here and what about a thin lightweight short sleeve sweater? I wear a couple of these from Amazon and one from Bowden with dark wash jeans and it works for anywhere you could’ve worn a T-shirt I would think.

I appreciate the suggestion but this wouldn't work for anyone who has boobs and a long torso. |
