GDS and Burke WL

What are the chances of getting an offer off of the WL with accompanying FA for either GDS or Burke?

Which grade?

Burke seems pretty likely. Feel like a lot of GDS/Maret/Field kids use Burke as somewhat of a safety.

And they know it and over admit as a result. Burke has a slight chance, GDS has virtually none as the waitlist everyone not admitted. If Burke is the top pick, I’d have you kid write a letter saying why and saying that she’d enroll if admitted.

Not sure about FA though. Depends on when your kid gets off the WL. They aren’t saving it for you

It is unlikely that you will get a financial aid package if pulled off WL. All aid will be distributed prior.

Ahh, why do folks say this? Especially this year, I've been seeing "school A" is a safety for "school B" ... when general knowledge/annual observation suggests those schools have very similar admit rates. I've seen DCUM call either Burke or Field the harder admit in recent years, and but they likely average out about the same. Ditto with GDS as compared to Maret. You're also not dealing with large numbers the way colleges are, so just a few more kids applying (or not applying) will knock the admit rate all over the place.

OP, some schools will WL anyone who they can't admit or who they can't give aid to, while others will split those decisions. Meaning you can be offered admission, but waitlisted for aid. (That's another reason it's hard to guess at admissions rates based on what folks post on this board). I'd ask the schools how they manage WLs + financial aid, and that may help gauge where you stand. Good luck!!
