How much was your wellness exam with vaccines for your dog?

I just left the vet. For 2 shih tzus to have wellness exams, dhpp, lepto, bordatella, heart worm tests, and pro heat 12 it set me back $700 just wondering what others are spending on similar yearly visits.

That sounds right. Mine is about $500 for one large dog--multiple vaccines and labs.

I looked up my last invoice for my two dogs for a similar visit and it was about $900 for both of them for exams and screening tests (heartworm and parasite) and vaccines.

Sounds about right. Just had my 2 dogs' teeth cleaned for the first time in many years. One had maybe 5 or 6 extractions. I think the total was close to $5k.

I think my vet charged $400 during the pandemic, maybe there were more vaccines to take care of that day, or maybe he was in need of money (he's a one-man operation). But the most recent ones were significantly less. $200 per visit. He's very reasonable, never pushes any extra services, and altogether a treasure.

That’s how much our vet charges. If you go to a clinic, it would be even less.

You guys pay a ton. For our 90 pound GSD I’ve never paid more than $280 for his annual appointment. His vet retired and I dread getting a new one.

Whatever you do don’t go to VCA. It’s like the jiffy lube of animal medicine. Try to find an independent vet clinic-not one owned by venture capital

$700 for 2 dogs is only $350 apiece and that included your heartworm prevention. Yeah, that is super reasonable. I have a large dog and pay over $350 a year for just the Simparica Trio that he uses.

$350 for one dog. I was really shocked. I think I knew vaccines would be about $75, but we only had 2 shots.

We went to the county shot clinic the next time and for 2 shots, a chip and a county license it was $30. It wasn't for low income people and I feel okay using it because I pay a ton in taxes. The shot clinic was super clean and very well organized. They also gave a treat while they gave shots and my dog liked it.

I feel bad not using the vet, but I just don't make enough to afford it. With a puppy I was supposed to go multiple times until I got all the shots. I also avoided fecal samples, which they kept trying to push.

I used to get out of the vet for around $120 per pet. If you go with pro heart it’s $150 for a large dog for the whole year.

They recently opened up a community veterinary clinic in SE, too. MUCH cheaper for annual visits, and even sick visits. Not great for emergencies, though.
