"AI can do your job but you still need to RTO"

WILD to me that we live in a world where on one hand, AI can 'replace many humans' and do entire jobs, run companies. Yet at the same time we are insisting that people need to transport their physical bodies to a shared workspace in order to complete tasks.

Make it make sense.

Butts in seats, dude. Consider the alternative. AI does your job while you're at home not getting a paycheck. I mean, that's coming, maybe within the year, but for now ... butts in seats.

It’s about new ideas and collaboration that comes from that - AI cannot and will never be able to replicate human creativity. If you don’t have this or your role lacks it - yes you are replaceable and it doesn’t make sense for you.

You can collaborate and invent new ideas without being in the same physical space with folks.

They want people to quit. When you remember that it all makes sense.

Because management is incompetent.

+1. It's just stealth layoffs.

Rto is about soft layoff and justification to commercial real estate. AI is a whole other thing.

If AI is taking all our jobs, there will be no one to buy all the goods being produced and the economy will collapse.

We've had the technology for machines to build houses for many years. I still see constructions sites filled with human workers.

The only people who think AI are going to take all the jobs are the people CREATING the AI products and trying to sell them.

Agree, stealth layoff bs. Companies are never worried about meaningful collaboration when they outsource to India or use AI.

Management is using AI as leverage and threat to make humans work more

This was all led by the federal government. Their managers had no way to track people at home or to discipline people who weren't working at home. There weren't many of these people but they ruined it for everyone. Clearly managers could have been given more tools to manage, but they'd rather have butts in seats.

Yeah it should be “AI can do your job, your service is no longer needed.”
