Do unhooked T10 admits during RD all have insane ECs or flawless transcripts?

Are we talking about national award winners, kids who have never even seen an A- in non grade inflation schools, and all have 1570+ SAT?

some of this, yes.
mine didn't have national award but more or less had the rest of what you listed. but nothing done for college resume sake, all just whatever she wanted to spend their time doing.
yes, she also has an amazing friend group, goes to prom/homecoming, and has a boyfriend. spends time with us parents and with siblings. was also doing daily intensive treatment of a medical issue throughout high school. and still has plenty of free time to hang out, watch movies, go out for walks, play HS sports. it's the kids who still have tons of free time despite having flawless transcripits/great ECs - those are the ones getting in unhooked.

We like to think that everyone has potential. They do, but it’s not equally distributed. There are indeed kids who have never seen an A- at the hardest private schools in the area, yet still have time to do many other things. They are just very quick, very curious, and very disciplined.

Pretty much yes.
But a lot of them are hooked.

No. You don’t need all three.

RD admit to T10 (applied elsewhere early):
Multiple national awards in niche area
National level summer program
Published humanities
Undersubscribed major (w/3 EC alignment)
Test optional
Best of my career LOR in humanities subject
Legacy

We know its Northwestern (the fake T10)

The kid who ran the tables (5 Ivies plus Stanford, Duke, Hopkins, Northwestern, etc) in RD from our top private was a 4.0 (the school generally only graduates a 4.0 kid once every 5 years), 1600 etc.

Our private wouldn’t let someone run the table all. But similar kid at ours got into HYPS and Northwestern and Penn.

Duke?
We know someone like this with individual sports championships (quasi Olympic).

They say you should do legacy early, but I’ve now heard more and more people getting in as legacy through RD at Duke (and Penn). Early is filled with their South Carolina/North Carolina cohort along with all athletes and QB.

Yeah, they got deferred ED/SCEA and then applied everywhere. It isn't commonly done at this high school (kids generally don't want to screw over their classmates) and a lot of people were not happy about this kid doing it and college guidance did not refuse to send the transcripts.

Just sharing for purpose of this post-- this are the stats of a kid who got a lot of RD acceptances.

How many truly unhooked kids (inclusive of demographics and other institutional priorities) actually get in?

It has to be a vanishingly tiny number.

We ran the math for a T20 private and it came down to around 100 total offers available for non-FGLI boys in the entire state California, inclusive of potential legacy and donor hooks.

Multiple T10/ivy in RD, had 1570, hardest APs, #1 student, in-depth ECs, competitive academic awards/honors but none technically national individual awards, oversubscribed major, and more. They would stand out anywhere, and they do, though now there are many others similar in the top group and they are no longer a stand-alone outlier as they were in high school.

And how do they like not being an outlier anymore?

I feel like DC would be so relieved -- but might also have an identity crisis lol.

Is the oversubscribed major in STEM?

I don't get why people would be unhappy about him applying to more colleges in the RD round, after being deferred in the early round? Geez. That is some serious policing there.
