Does anyone know what the typical roster size is for the “regional” teams at the following clubs for the U13 age?
1. Arlington ECNL RL 2. Alexandria MLSNext AD 3. McLean MLSNext AD 4. SYC MLSNext AD |
| The RL teams post their rosters on the VPSL website so you can just look it up and count players. |
16-18 is the normal range at U13-U14. Teams usually will not pack more than 18 until they get to U15 and allow for extra players to contend with HS activities. |
| McLean U13 MLSNext AD this year has about 22 kids on it. It has supposedly been a struggle so I hope they are learning for next year! |
That's terrible. |
They have just enough so you won’t get a spot Sorry! |
That is crazy. They should have stopped at 18 max. Some people must not get ANY play time. Lots of parents complaining for sure. Since they only have AD, what can be gained from staying AD forever? Most people try to get on an AD team with a goal to hopefully make their clubs HD team one day. Not seeing the point long term. Happy to learn. |
So guess you are aware of the MLS Next players get at least 1/3 game time then? |
| Alexandria U13 MLS AD had 16 to start with and ended up with the roster size of two teams or more. Some the kids had to take turn even for scrimmage practices . Coach publishes the roster of playing 18 before every game . |
Only the players who dress. With 22 kids on the roster, 4 aren’t coming to the game each weekend. |
I didn't. Now I know. |
So when you commited to the team they told you 16 players, then you showed up in fall and there were 30+ kids on the team? |
At most they had 22, including some that were futures so played for both the HG and AD team. |
22 on a U13 team is absurd. |
| And a few red team players join practices count increases. So 11 v 11 scrimmages kids take turns. If you are in a game with 22 kids with 11 on field you still have another team (11 kids) on bench |
