What would you wear to get married in a courthouse?

We are middle-aged, this is the second marriage for each of us. I'm usually in athleisure outfits, so I'd like him to see me in something lovely that takes his breath away for a moment, but also don't want to be too dressed up because... it's a courthouse in the middle of the day. No super high heels because we're about the same height. I'm on the petite side, but not skinny. 5'3, size 6/8.

Dress nicely if you want. Plenty of people do so for their courthouse weddings. Get your hair and makeup done too.

A beautiful non professional blazer and skirt or special dress (no sequins or anything) and heels. Lighter color.

A nice woman’s suit.

Congrats! I’d wear a flattering, light colored dress, and get a blowout. I would not think dress differently bc it is in a courthouse vs a restaurant or wherever.

You know your own style and what makes you feel good. For me, I’d get something like this - the color would make me feel like a million happy bucks:

Damn he is 5ft 3 too?

Just saw you are 5’3” and don’t want to wear heels - Staud has a lot of mini dress options, too. Bloomingdales usually carries a good selection of this brand if you want to shop in person, otherwise checkon the Staud website or Shopbop.

Congratulations!! I’d dress like you were going to a nice dinner, keeping in mind that it’s daytime and the vibe of the specific restaurant if you go out for lunch/dinner afterwards.

I wore a cream, short cocktail dress with a birdcage veil and loved my look!

I agree with this approach. I'd look for a floral midi dress in pinks, greens, or blues, because those are my colors. I'd gravitate towards a-line, or even a full skirt, because a skirt with "swish" always makes me feel good.

OP, what colors and styles do you feel best in? Maybe we can make suggestions. Sounds like you might prefer a mini or knee length style? What colors do you gravitate towards? What dress shapes? Also when are you getting married, so we can make weather appropriate suggestions?

How lovely!

Hope you find your dress!

I would wear a really cute, original, fun, daytime, dress that's not white and doesn't those are my favorite colors and I look good in cool tones of those colors. Decorated with flowers. Of course that would take me months to find...

Congratulations, OP! Wishing you the best in this new stage of your life. You're going to look absolutely wonderful, whatever you choose to wear

^ sorry, the sentence was gobbled up. I meant to write that my dress wouldn't scream wedding, and it would probably be in cool shades of blue or pink, with flowers, because that's my vibe. I would have my hair done specially.
