Tax Year 2025 Tax Refunds

Did you get a refund? How much? Or did you have to pay? Did OBBB truly impact refunds? Or is Bessent blowing smoke?

I'll start - Federal refund of $7k - last year federal refund was like $400 and we did not change any withholdings

We are receiving a refund, but only because I switched jobs and started paying SS taxes again after having already maxed them out.

"refund amount" is pretty useless metric. Yes the OBBB has reduced taxes for certain people in high tax states with 300-500k income.

That's actually too kind to the OP. It's an utterly useless metric, and anyone who focuses on it should not be in charge of their own finances, or anyone else's.

Yet none are donating their extra refund to anything they support. They support in word only not their check book.

Got a $2500 fed refund, but I started taking out extra because our youngest turned 17 in 2025, losing the child tax credit. But then there's "other dependents" credit, which gave us $1000, because our oldest was a full-time student ($500 for each).
