| I thought it was an isolated issue the last time but apparently not. It makes me clench my teeth BIG TIME until I get a splitting headache. It also makes me feel nauseous. I’m afraid to tell the doctor for fear I’ll sound like I’m drug shopping or looking for better drugs, I’m not, but this is agony and I need something else. Any advice for how to present this? |
| I get the same type of reaction and can't take any pain meds like that. I specifically ask for non-opioid medication regimens. |
| I just say I don’t do well with opioids. It’s a nothingburger. They move on to next question. |
What do they give you instead? I was prescribed opioid after surgery and too afraid to take it so I just didn't. |
Alternate Tylenol and ibuprofen worked better for me than opioids for laparoscopic surgery |
PP here. That's what I did, just wondering if there's anything else I'm missing. |
This is an unreasonable anxiety that is causing you pain. Sharing your side effects with your doctor is what you should be doing, not worrying she will think you’re drug-seeking. Why on earth would you think that? You really had surgery, right? You don’t have a history of taking pain drugs? Talk to your doctor. |
| Did you have surgery? I just had orthopedic surgery and was prescribed Celebrex. I was doubtful but it worked really well. Opiods make me throw up a lot. |
| I had this same experience of the awful headache (after dental surgery, so assumed it was that; it was not) and the nausea. I just go with Tylenol 3. |
Not OP but t3 made me nauseous and didn’t do anything for the pain after a dental procedure so I had to mix Motrin and Tylenol. I’m scheduled for a hysterectomy and interested to see what the regiment will be. |
Tylenol 3 has codeine! OP, I had a tonsillectomy as an adult and could not tolerate codeine/opiods as it made me vomit. I would up with prescription strength painkillers (basically higher doses of OTC Tylenol, Advil, etc.) |
| Tylenol 3? Does that mean 300mg? |
+1 This is what I did after my c-section. |
| I have an upcoming abdominal surgery. I will be on Tylenol, Celebrex, and low dose gabapentin. |
| You can take the Tylenol and ibuprofen together. There was a study that showed that pain relief was similar to opioids. |
