Entrance Sign to McLean HS Disappeared

Anonymous
Within the last month or so the entrance sign to McLean on Westmoreland Street got taken down.

The electric message board hadn’t been working for years but now the entire sign is gone. It especially helped people coming from other schools know where to turn off Westmoreland to get to MHS.

Is there a plan to replace it? Has anyone raised this with Raven Jones or Robyn Lady?

Why wouldn’t you just call the school and ask?

The folks handling the phone calls are busy enough dealing with excused absences, scheduling appointments with counselors, and so on. Thought someone here might know.

+1
Or call and report it themselves.

If the sign hasn’t been working, then the sign was removed, logic suggests they are indeed replacing the sign at some point, or perhaps it is just being repaired. The weather hasn’t exactly been conducive to getting a sign (re)installed.

The good news is there are not many turns off Westmoreland right there. I’m confident MHS visitors can find the school.

What a thing to be worked up about! You think visitors won’t notice the enormous school in front of them!?

You can’t see the school from the turn off Westmoreland. That’s why the big sign was helpful to visitors.

So you waste our time instead? Thanks

McLean HS is not visible from any major or semi major road.

Yes, we know. You think people drive in the general vicinity looking for a sign? The vast majority of people use GPS. You don't need a sign when you arrive when a huge school is in front of you.

They can pull our their paper maps if they can't figure it out.

Some GPS programs like Waze do not display the unnamed access road off Westmoreland, even though it’s one of the main access routes to the school. That’s one reason why the big sign was helpful.

And the school is not visible from Westmoreland, as several have pointed out.

I mean, objectively, yes, drivers rely on signage, even if their GPS systems work well (which they never do). I don't know why some posters are fighting against such a basic fact.

I hope this school gets a new sign rapidly, OP.
