Thrifting and Wine Tour ideas

Anonymous
My mom wants to go on a wine tour and go thrifting for her birthday. She is flexible on vineyards - but does anyone know of good thrift stores either in the Leesburg area or heading towards Charlottesville? Thanks for your expertise!

You should take her to Lucketts if she would be into vintage housewares vs clothes. That's near leesburg and lots of wineries. There are a couple of thrift stores and a used bookstore in downtown leesburg I think.

All the shops in Lucketts claim to be "antiques" but it's all dropped shipped stuff from Faire.

NP. This is so interesting to me! My mom and I have been to Lucketts once or twice but we were so turned off by the wares being sold - nothing was really an antique, just lots of whitewashed furniture and silly (new) knickknacks. It seems like a lot of "antique" stores are selling this crap these days. What a disappointment!

Purcellville has

It’s Bazaar (consignment)
ReLove It (consignment)
Graffiti and Silk (thrift)
The Clothing Closet (thrift)
Blue Ridge Thrift (thrift)
Nostalgia (vintage)
Twin Flames (vintage)

Plus other cute boutiques.

Lots of wineries in the area.

Linden isn't anywhere near Purcellville.

The wineries near Purcellville to checkout include:

Walsh Family Wine
Hillsborough Vineyards & Brewery
868
Breaux Vineyards
Sunset Hills
Otium

Of these, I'd recommend the first two. Hillsborough for views (and they also have beer). Walsh is decent wine.

All of these are within about 10 minutes of Purcellville proper.
