Private & Independent Schools
| Our neighborhood public elementary school hasn’t had outdoor recess since the big snowstorm. Our private has had outdoor recess (twice a day) this week. |
| Ok. Congratulations? |
| our private did not take away parent teacher conferences or add additional days to make up for the snow days |
| Who cares?? Who thinks about this stuff? My God. |
+1. My kid walked 10 min to and from our local public elementary school today and then played outside with classmates/neighbors. And we didn’t have to pay 60k a year for the privilege. |
| Outdoor recess? For paying 50-60k? You folks are as dumb as you sound. |
| at least we get a spring parent teacher conference and done with the school year the first week of june! vacation, here we come! |
So you care more about a short commute and your kid’s social life than their education. |
We get a lot more than that. We get to avoid the poors so our kids are only with our kind. |
Troll. |
| Op are you trying to convince us or yourself? It sounds like you are grasping at straws. |
You might think so, but avoiding the families in public school is well worth the tuition. |
| lol yes I would also be happy about that OP. But that’s expensive recess. Parenting is a wild and wonderful journey. I suspect that more frequent recess at private elementary school will not be as meaningful to you in the future. |
And yet here you are monitoring the Private & Independent Schools thread. Must be either because you're really curious for your kids or because you're a troll. Which is it? |

Yeah OP’s post is pretty funny. But seriously as a private school parent I was happy that my kids to got back to school after only 2 snowdays. Our neighborhood public was closed for one a week and even cancelled all weekend activities! Then they did virtual school and we all know how effective that is.
My kids were able to go back to school after 2 fun days playing in the snow, quickly got back to in person instruction, and continued all their extra curricular activities as scheduled. And I’m glad we don’t have to deal with added school days going into half of June. I felt bad for their friends (and their parents) who stayed in our public school. |
