Feel like I have an ulcer after having the colonoscopy?

Anonymous
Anyone have a colonoscopy then feel like they have an ulcer after? It's been 3 weeks. No fever no blood or nausea or vomitting etc.. but it feels like an ulcer would feel. Anyone experience this and does it go away and what did you do to make it go away? Went to Gastro and they are not very helpful. Ruling out an ulcer without even seeing my stomach. They keep saying the colonoscopy was benign etc... but the colon is the area of pain. It is my stomach. Anyone have this? What helped? I am trying to get in for appt but in meantime. Thank you.

Have you had an ulcer before? What makes you think that’s what is going on? Are the symptoms upper or lower GI?
Could it just be acid indigestion?

If you already tried the gastro d, I would probably call my PCP to discuss or send my chart message.

I'm a little confused -- is it your colon or your stomach that hurts (very different locations). What does the pain feel like -- how do you know it feels like an ulcer? Can you use any words other than pain?

I don't doubt that you are in pain, but maybe you need to be more specific so that they know what to look for.

What do you mean what does it feel like?

No, this is not normal. Did you have polyps removed?

Yes. Had one removed. It hurts in the stomach area - left and above belly button. Feels like a burning pain. It started day of colonoscopy. Pain not in colon but it just happen to begin that day. I vomited the morning of the procedure after drinking some the second bottle. Was on broth diet for a day but had coffee. I did have biopsy but I don't have fever or any of the things they ask for concern but it hurts the way an ulcer is described as hurting - like a sort of burning spot in stomach area.

stomach just happened to start day of colonoscopy not sure if prep being on broth only for a day and having procedure in the afternoon allowed acid to build up or something but it has been sore for 3 weeks. Yes had polyps it was benign in sigmoid area but 5mm.

So now that I have explained the pain fells like a burning pain in stomach (not colon) anyone have an ulcer or these symptoms? IF so what did you do to improve them? Food, drinks, medicine that helped?

I'm not trying to minimize your concern, but that doesn't sound like an ulcer in your colon. Do you have any bleeding or severe diarrhea?

It's NOT in the colon. Pain is in the stomach.

NOT in colon. Pain is in stomach but happened to start the day of the colonsopcay. Could prep have irritated stomach? Vomited up some of prep so there was a period where stomach was empty for a long time.

No, the solution did not give you an ulcer. Ulcers are caused by bacteria and treated with antibiotics.

I would see if antacids help (eg Pepcid) while also contacting PCP.

I would talk to PCP again and see if they can order an ultrasound. They can see if there is an ulcer and treat it properly.

A scope would be needed to diagnose an ulcer.
