| Jeez what happened? This used to be such a strong team. Very sad. |
| What do you mean |
|
I think they are talking about a 5-6 team that in the past would win 7-8 games a season and be stronger.
|
I thought they were 6-7 (No, not trying to say "6-7"). They've won less than HALF of games so far? |
| I think they had some coach issues? But also, it is public school so you never know who you will have as players |
| Where can I find the scores? I don't see anything on the BCC athletics website. MaxPrep doesn't work on my computer for some reason. Is there some MCPS affiliated site that posts scores? |
| County Sports Zone |
| Now not allowed to recruit players out of the area? |
| Their coaching staff, which wasn't very good to begin with got canned for illegal games. They beat Whitman the other night so maybe they are going to go on a run in the playoffs. |
What were the illegal games? I heard they were fired because the JV coach accused them of abuse to get the varsity coaching job for himself. Which backfired big time. |
|
I thought the coaches were fighting over the camp money?
Honestly, I am shocked that MCPS looks the other way while coaches use the players without pay to rake in thousands of dollars for Summer Camp that goes directly to coaches. |
The JV coach was part of it, playing summer games and practices. Mark has been trying to get that job since he graduated B-CC in the 80s and he had his chance but blew it. |
The summer camp issue was that Mark Karver ran the summer camp under a name BCC basketball for years. The B- CC coaches (Tracy & Ryan) worked the camps and they wanted to cur Mark out and get the gym reserved before Mark could and the AD at the time was trying to convince other people (school organizations) to book it before the camps could and Ryan and Tracy would then run the camp. The other organizations said no and the AD was replaced the next year. |
This is totally false. The athletic director at BCC is the same guy who's been there for years. Mark Karver attacked the varsity coaches as abusive so he could become the varsity coach himself. That's what it seemed like. And he got fired too. I agree the summer camp was a shake down. Free labor. |
| So what happens now? Do they politely wait for the new coach to quit? Or can they fire him? It's not even like he started from nothing and is working on it -- he started with a really strong team and ruined it. How embarrassing. Why did they think they could hire someone from a school with a losing track record and have him do anything different at BCC??? |
