| At a formal event, where you’re wearing a LBD or equivalent, are you wearing pantyhose? Or do you just go bare-legged? I hate even sheers, but it feels so weird to think of not wearing any. It’s just so cold! |
| Wear pantyhose! Ridiculous not to wear in this weather. Many nice options out there. |
And I think it’s fine not to. I hate the way they look, particularly nude pantyhose, and black, I think, looks ridiculous with a little black dress or formalwear. |
| No, pantyhose is for grandmas named Helen and Ruth. |
|
Wear it or don't. It doesn't matter in any weather
As a kid growing up who was forced to wear dresses for many many years in all weathers, can we get over the myth that a thin layer of nylon on your legs is somehow warming in winter. Better than nothing? Maybe but very little better. If you hate them, its not worth it. I was cold whether I wore them or not. |
Careful! Lots of Gen Alpha now have these "grandma" names, lol. |
What looks ridiculous about it? Can you expand or provide photos. I can't even really see nude hose. |
They (nude) just make the skin look unnatural. Everyone knows you’re wearing them, and for what? As PP described, they offer absolutely no warmth. |

Naked legs look ridiculous at formal events in the winter.
You know how a many who wears dress shoes without socks with a suit would look dumb? Same thing. Nude or black stockings with your LBD. PS - I think women should poll their husbands. I bet most men prefer women to wear them. |
Ew why??? Also why would we care?? |
| I’ve never understood this bc actual pantyhose (like sheers) provide no warmth. And tights barely do. So do whatever you think looks good. I’d rather wear a pantsuit than actua pantyhose. |
| I had an event Saturday night and wore sheer pantyhose. It (1) kept my legs warmer than if they were bare and (2) hid my dry winter skin. Win-win. |
Dry winter skin is a thing |
| Yes, wear them. |
| Only if it’s before 1988. |
