Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
| Update 3:40 |
| Not sure what will change between Monday and Tuesday. What is the plan here |
| This county is a joke |
Bye. |
The county is bad, but somehow Taylor and MCPS are even worse. He has no idea what he's doing. Replace him with someone who has worked in a northern state. |
And raise taxes in the county by 10% to give him the funding to handle this scenario |
There isn't one. They're flailing. They've dug themselves into a covid-like hole by setting wildly unrealistic expectations for reopening. They're going to stay closed until Thursday. |
| I cant get on website. Is this true. |
| I assume it's the sidewalks kids use to walk to school. MCPS can't solve that, but can't they get the County to clear those? |
| Looks like PWCS, Loudon is a 2 hour delay, PG hasn't made a decision and Fairfax has not made a decision yet! |
| Maybe they will use the day with staff in schools to finally pivot to a freaking virtual learning model rather than throw all this learning time into the toilet? |
| "IMPORTANT MESSAGE– Schools are closed, offices will open on time, staff should report as on a regular non-instructional day for Monday, February 2, 2026." from their site. |
| Where are you seeing this? |
There's nothing to handle. They could have opened. At most they may need to adjust bus routes downcounty if it's true that they can't get through. That can be a permanent change. |
|
Arlington and the other nearby VA county no decision yet either so this makes sense.... at least MCPS called it early. Otherwise, we'd need to scramble like the VA folks.
Are we getting snow this Wednesday/Thursday? |
