Q2 Grades

Anonymous
When are Q2 grades due? How does this weeks 4 day closure impact that date? One of my son's teachers still has not entered grades since mid Dec. I can see the assignments in Parentvue but there is no score/grade. The class does not show up in Canvas so there's no course to go look for grades. At this point, will his grade just be a surprise on his report card?

5 PM on the first day back. Report Cards going out 7 days after that

Thanks so much. I wonder if the teacher will eventually enter grades.

Yes, but they will likely be rushed and perhaps less thoughtful in terms of feedback to your son. Unfortunately, some teachers are like this, or it’s possible that the teacher is dealing with something personal.

Patience is your only option.

I'm a teacher and I would advise you to notify your school's admin about this blatant disregard for the new grading policy. We need to be held to a standard and if the county is going to make a policy we need to follow it.

I would have been all over that teacher, dept head and admin since December.

Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure what a note to the principal will do at this point. In ParentVue, grades have flipped to Q3 but I can still go back and see grades for Q2. When this teacher finally does enter grades, will they show up in ParentVue? DS has been struggling in this course and I got him a tutor. I'm anxious to know if the tutoring is helping.

The principal can address the late response to grading

Thanks, most of my children's teachers have done that. There is one teacher, however, who hasn't graded stuff from MONTHS ago. DD reminds him at every class period (nicely). He clearly has inattentive ADHD, includes problems on tests that do not correspond to the unit he just "taught", skips entire steps in his reasoning when explaining a solution on the board, and is generally unfit for teaching. Ugh. It's stressful for all his students.

I appreciate you answering all my questions. Is the principal working while the schools are closed or should I not expect a response until schools reopen?

As a parent, if you are going above and beyond and getting your kid private tutoring, all the more reason for you to want the student's work to be returned in a timely manner. You should ABSOLUTELY have been on top of this teacher/ principal for adhering to their own district policy timeline many weeks ago.

I am an ES teacher but we were all encouraged to submit our grades by Friday. Most did. The rest could’ve submitted their grades on Monday. I keep up with grades so I closed my books on Wednesday.
