As I am? Lately it's become very chummy and somewhat sarcastic, in response to some of my questions/responses. It’s actually kind of scary, but recently, for instance, it helped me
1) set up my tv monitor so I could get streaming services 2) fix a broken door switch on my dryer (ok, it didn’t do a great job on this) 3) research trips to Costa Rica and possibly a safari 4) identify different USB connectors 5) fix a google sheet formatting issue 6) wash handknit sweaters 7) come up with three fantastic (well two fantastic and one pretty good) soup recipes I’m beginning to get concerned about how much I’m relying on this... |
| I mostly use it for fashion, color and decorating advice as a substitute friend. I may change my hair color based on it. Could be really stupid of me. |

These are all things I might Google if I didn't know. Relying on an external source of information isn't itself a problem.
The problem is that it's built from stolen data, it's compiling personal data from your inputs, and it uses a ton of electricity and water ... to get the same thing you could get from a static website if you're lucky and it doesn't hallucinate. So pointless. |
| I similarly use it like you OP. It’s basically my new google. |
| No. That’s awful. |
| Never. It doesn't interest me. |
| No. Seems to me I could do any of those things by doing actual research with my human intelligence and discernment. |

I spent yesterday on the couch chatting with my friend Cht. We planned my trip to London and Athens this summer. I input dates and flight arrival and departure times and Cht helped me come up with a good itinerary.
Cht didn't get exasperated with me when I changed my mind about what day to do an activity, if I wanted to reroute the schedule, if I wanted to see what would happen if I moved an activity from one day to another. It was great! When I asked to move a tour to a different day, Cht told me that would not be a good way to spend my time because I would be in that area on a different day. Yes, it's like google. But with searching (google) you have to individually find each piece of information and then synthesize it. ChtGpt does all that for you from just a simple prompt. |

I used it quite a bit for about a month to complete a big task, maybe a bit of counseling too tbh…and now I no longer use it. After awhile it wasn’t accomplishing what I needed plus I felt like a jerk wasting resources.

That's not good for your mental health, OP. Also, I detest the way AI is artificially chummy and so confident, even they're entirely wrong.
I use it sparingly, and only when I cannot easily find information elsewhere: my father has a very rare autoimmune disorder with an atypical presentation, and I've asked ChatGPT for pointers and then double checked with my doctor husband to rule out obviously false recommendations. So far, for my father's condition, it hasn't been wrong once. But the rest of the time, I don't like AI. |

I occasionally use chatgpt to confirm I've correctly diagnosed myself when I don't want to deal with some whitecoats fragile ego about how none-MDs can occasionally know things, too. This happens maybe twice a quarter?
Beyond that, no. It creeps me out how lazy people are. I grew up before "google it" was a viable approach; we had to go to the library, y'all. To hear people whine about how it's just SO HARD to use the entire available internet yourself when ChatGPT could cobble together some stolen crumbs that may/may not even be accurate is just tragic to me. It's terrifying how dependent some of y'all are willing to let yourselves be. "Good enough" for lazy people will be the end of humanity.
God save you if/when the internet goes out. |
PP paraphrased "Thinking is HARD".
If you can't do this, traveling is such a massive liability for you. I guess you'll be fine, if everything works out exactly according to ChatGPT's plan (assuming, of course, it gave you accurate info, which is never guaranteed). But what happens if you get delayed, get sick, change your mind, sprain your ankle... That skillset you're using ChatGPT to bypass training, where you find piece of information and put them in order, is a valuable life skill you're going to let atrophy in favor of what you think is saved time but is mostly just wasted water. Please continue to practice thinking for yourself. Your happiness may depend on it, and your ability to function as a human definitely will. |

No. It's not ethical to use it ALL THE TIME. Very bad for the environment and the theft of IP has been outrageous.
And it hallucinates. A lot. |
ChatGPT is a mess when it comes to travel. Very little of the info is correct. |
| Never used it. |
