As an Immigrant I support ICE (in concept)

Anonymous
As a legal immigrant I am totally supportive of the concept of ICE.

Too many folks have taken advantage of this country and come here illegally. I came here for a better life from Europe and have worked hard and benefited from the opportunities and legal protections of the US.

I don’t support illegal immigration and in general I think we need laws and penalties if you break those rules. We need to send all illegal immigrants home.

I can’t understand people who opposes the concept of ICE. Don’t you care about your country? Already my area Silver Spring is becoming very Spanish and losing its American identity.

I do however have a problem with things happening now. I fear if ICE is too aggressive then the next Democratic administration will open the borders and defund ICE. We will see big increases in immigration- and continue to see wages stagnate and public services to be over run. I know most immigrants are peaceful but we will also some small increases in crime.

Trump knows many people want an immigration crack down and I support the concept. But we need targeted raids on known individuals and not street sweeps. It’s tragic anyone has gotten hurt.

It’s all so sad and I hope Trump tones things down soon. But we need ICE and we need them to be professional and effective- not a bunch of cowboys.

Long term it’s the Republican business owners who benefit most from illegal immigration- gives them cheap labor. Democrats need to side with Americans and not undercut the interests of poorer folks who are here legally.

As the Dems became a party for the rich elites they lost touch with poorer people and look down their noses anyone whose thinking does not conform to acceptable standards. If you care about American culture- hmm maybe you are racist.

Do you truly believe that your legal status will protect you from untrained and unvetted ICE officers? If you do you have not been paying attention. By the way.....this sounds like a MAGA wrote it.

I invite you to go see your PCP and ask for a referral to a competent neurologist. Preferably soon.

OP here- no not MAGA- registered democrat and proud of it.

Naturalized citizen too. But yes, if ICE found good cause and I was given due process I would happily return to the country I was born in. Why would I want to live somewhere when anyone can come here and laws mean nothing.

That said- I do wish ICE were being run better. Obama did a great job getting rid of illegals- he was a very good president and knew he had to keep illegals out as much as possible to protect American workers.

I just think the far left has highjacked the Democratic Party and everyone has lost their minds!

I agree. There needs to be a middle ground between what is going on now and open borders. Which candidate will give us that middle ground?

To quote PP: "As the Dems became a party for the rich elites they lost touch with poorer people and look down their noses anyone whose thinking does not conform to acceptable standards. If you care about American culture- hmm maybe you are racist".

Nobody disagrees with the concept of "ICE" or deportation of people who are her illegally, it can be done without agents roaming the streets with masks covering their faces and without them barging into any home without a warrant. Trump's cabinet is majority billionaires, Scott Bessant said yesterday that mom and pop type Americans own 5-10 homes for retirements, Brooke Rollins said that a corn tortilla, piece of chicken + a piece of broccoli is a great $3 meal for Americans and they had to run 1000 simulations to get to that meal. If you think democrats are the party of elites then you are one of the dumbest people I have come across.

What Trump and his crew are doing in the guise of immigration will not benefit "average" Americans one bit, there won't be any worker protections or increase in wages, civil liberties will be gone and no one outside the U.S would want to do business with us but do carry on with the right wing propaganda.

Also, if you were so much in favor of "law and order" then you wouldn't have voted for a convicted felon so save that arguments for some other time. Btw, I am also an immigrant but I have 2 working brain cells.

this is your problem, being a European immigrant - " Don’t you care about your country? Already my area Silver Spring is becoming very Spanish and losing its American identity. "

Hispanics have been part of the US for centuries. As a matter of fact, TX used to belong to MX.

DH is also a white European immigrant, and I'm an Asian immigrant. No, we don't support illegal immigration, but we don't expect the neighborhoods to be white, or Asian. Hispanics have a longer history here than most white people's ancestors.

You saying your neighborhood is becoming "Spanish" shows me that you think American identity is white. That's your problem.

Yawn- this reeks of childish name calling.

Look Ignorant Immigrant MAGA, I’m going to spell it out for you—your Orange Poo Lord isn’t for helping poor people. He and his billionaire creep cronies want to take everything for themselves and make everyone else into a serf. Serf—a term you no doubt understand as a European.

Yeah Maryland has been Spanish for 100s of years. No. Now New Mexico / Texas- of course. The point is mass immigration changes communities and those communities have a right to reject that changes especially when it’s illegal.

Agreed. I don’t mind if the US had stricter immigration laws. But the current situation is 1) terrible and unlawful and 2) just a pretense to unleash terrible things (mass surveillance, police state, squashing dissent). It’s interesting how the Don’t Thread on Me bros don’t realize the latter.

Oh, is that why Trump also imports foreign workers, because he cares so much about the average American? Is that why Trump gave the rich huge tax cuts, and the Rs refuse to pass subsidies for ACA health insurance? Have you ever had to get private insurance? Probably not.

It's ironic you mention "conformity". Look at the people who surround Trump. There's a MAGA look for women (ie, Bondi, Noem, etc.). Apparently, DC area plastic surgeons are doing MAGA looks surgeries.

Rs actually are about conformity. They certainly don't want individual thought. Notice how MAGA will threaten anyone who doesn't have the MAGA Group think.

IMO, you are racist. DC has a Chinatown. I suppose you don't like that either because the area has lost its "American identity" (ahem.. white).

OP- none of us have a problem with immigration enforcement. Biden and Obama deported millions of people. What we oppose is am American gestapo.

Let's be real.. if the so called illegal immigrants (OP has no idea if the majority of those spanish people she's seeing are illegal) were all white Europeans, OP wouldn't have posted that part.

I have a hard time being bothered by undocumented immigrants when Americans set this system up. If they weren’t hired by Americans, they wouldn’t be here. Everyone who employs them knows exactly what they are doing, it’s not a secret.
