E-Bikes and Scooters

To the parents who have bought your dc an e-bike or scooter, are you absolutely mad? They are absolutely deadly both to the dc riding them as well as to others they may injure. I saw two young dc, probably around 12 and 9, riding an e-bike on the sidewalk and bumped into the back of an old man. Thank goodness he was steady on his feet enough not to fall over but imagine if he had? Just a few weeks ago, I saw a dc leaving school with his helmet unstrapped and looking at his phone while riding an e-scooter in the street. This fall, a 13yo boy was killed on the e-bike he had just got for his birthday. He ran into the back of a landscaping truck and was dragged over several blocks before anyone noticed. And yes, he WAS wearing a motorcycle helmet. Imagine if this were your dc? Just imagine that. I am constantly appalled at seeing the parents in my town buying these for their dc thinking god knows what or not thinking at all.
