Help me find a good fit

Looking for a high school for my son.

High achieving child, loves academics and sports, also very social. Takes Mandarin in middle and wants to continue in high school.

Atheist family/ not interested in Catholic school.

Lives in NW dc but willing to travel to Maryland.

Interested in a small, college prep environment but ideally down to earth NOT pretentious school with cliquey, only extreme wealthy and lack of values.

Is he currently in 7th?

Hear me out. I know that you are atheist and don't want Catholic school but you really should look at St. Anselm's.

You likely have just missed application deadlines, but Bullis and Landon might fit the bill. St. Andrew's is episcopal so religious light. If truly high achieving St. Alban's, Sidwell and Maret might be on the table too, but again, you've likely missed the deadlines. All of these schools have sports and good academic programs. All will have wealth and some kids/families who are pretentious, but not everyone will be like that.

They don’t offer Mandarin though.

I’m hoping OP’s kid is in 7th and they are just getting a jumpstart on the process.

Otherwise, OP, you’re going to be limited to schools that allow you to apply late.

Hadn't really researched this as neither of my kids would have been eligible to attend. But fits the vibe.

Sounds like Basis McLean would be perfect.

Not if he wants sports or anything resembling a traditional high school experience.

I’m so tired of these ridiculous threads. OP, your kid ain’t special.

OP didn’t say they were special, they asked for suggestions for good fit schools. If you don’t like threads asking about suggestions for private schools, you should maybe not be in the private school forum.
