Not sure if this was discussed after this video came out https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NLuT-rT13pk It seems to imply the grade will only be based on the MP grades that show up on the transcript, after round etc has been performed.
Eg if someone gets an 89.5 in MP1 and an 88.5 in MP2, those become 90 and 89, hence the overall grade being an 89.5, hence an A. Am I missing something? |
| Round = rounding above, sorry... |
| That's how I took it, too. |
| omg who cares |
That is correct. But it can also work against you. You could have a 90.4 which is a 90 and an 88.4, which is an 88 and you end up with an 89 semester B even though those are mathematically ever so slightly higher raw grades. |
How does this hurt you in your example? If you average without rounding first, avg is 89.4 which is B The rounding first gives a few more student an A but doesn’t drop anyone to a B who would not otherwise have a B |
Not OP but wishing you best in working through whatever is triggering you in you life. |
It doesn’t hurt you per se. No one is getting a B who legitimately earned a semester A under the new policy. But in the first example you earned 178 points but you’ll end up with an A, and in the second example you earned 178.8 points but you’ll end up with a B. It’s also a little upsetting because both students would have had semester A grades under the old policy and student B legitimately earned an actual, unrounded A in MP1 but is the kid who ends up with the semester B. |
