My cat's birthday is coming up, and I want to treat him to something yummy (to him). Do you need to cook chicken gizzards? Would you just boil them?
Where can I get chicken hearts? Are the gizzards at Giant ok... or... not worth risking? |
|
Definitely cooked. No raw meat, too dangerous. My cats wouldn’t touch that, fyi. Maybe get one of those fancy feast gems mousse and plate it up nicely.
One of my cats recently became obsessed with Sheba meat sticks (snack). |

Slice the gizzards before poaching them. Hearts too. Cat doesn't want big tough chunks.
Chop before serving. |
| HMart. |
| Buy him some crabmeat. |
| definitely cook first, but my cat wouldn't be impressed by this. Churu, on the other hand, is the treat of choice: https://www.amazon.com/INABA-Grain-Free-Lickable-Squeezable-Vitamin/dp/B0B52FX4WX |
| Pet stores sell frozen or freeze-dried raw organ meat for cats and dogs. The Big Bad Woof in Takoma DC has plenty. No need to cook. |
Gizzards at Giant are sold for human consumption, they're fine for cats too Chicken hearts are in tubs at the grocery in the same spot as the livers and gizzards usually. Definitely cook them, for the cat I just boil them, no seasoning. My cat loves them. |
| I roast a whole chicken often and my dog loves the packet of them that comes in the bird. I sauté then chop. |
